BOX 13 ArtSpace is pleased to present four exhibitions opening Friday, January 12, 2024 from 6- 9 PM.
To kick off 2024, Box13 Artspace’s Front Box Gallery features Raul Rene Gonzalez – “So Many Styles, I Am A Group Show”, a solo exhibition by the multi-faceted artist. The exhibition features a selection of new works in painting, sculpture, drawing, and performance, largely influenced by the artist’s interests in work, play, family, music, and Houston. Back BOX gallery exhibition “Descansos” by Angel Castelán. Translating to “breaks” or “intermissions”, Descansos explores the beauty found within quiet moments. From being at rest to moments of intimacy, I find an authenticity and vulnerability unconstrained by the influence of culture and society. Moments, that through the creation process, allow me to undergo introspection and even a sense of catharsis. We are excited to showcase in our Window BOX an installation by Charlie King. “Executive Dysfunction(ing)” is an installation that explores the intricate aspects of executive dysfunction. This is often associated with neurodiversity, mental illness, and the human experiences in today’s consumerist, fast-paced, society. Finally in our Upstairs BOX we have a show entitled “Bab Geuleus” by artist Jennifer Seo. They transform paper into replicas of objects found from old family photographs . Through making these everyday objects they celebrate the minutia and monotony taken for granted in their past lives.
The exhibitions continue through February 10, 2024 . An Opening Reception will be held on Friday,, January 12, 2024, 6- 9PM at BOX 13 ArtSpace, 6700 Harrisburg, Houston, TX 77011.
